Blog 1: An introduction to my film project.

In a city walled off from the outside world, gangs syndicates act as governments and the people are divided by wealth and power, it is stagnant in time, never-moving, and teetering on the thin line between order and chaos. Plants now dominate the crumbling city and its people are suffering more and more anarchy with each following day.
This city is called Pariso. Derived from the words paraiso (paradise), and parasito (parasite), it is a city stuck in time, stagnant, but decaying, much-like the rubble surrounded by towering walls in China, once known as Kowloon.
Pariso is where my screenplay sets its stage. In this story, we follow the internal crime and violence that ravages the city, fuelled by a city-wide generational trauma and the willingness to fight back against the authoritarian oppressors.
I started this screenplay during the start of the lockdown in April, 2020. Since then, I have worked vigorously to make this show the best it can be.
So why am I currently starting a blog about it?
In truth, I am a man outside of the film landscape, with little ways to find an in; a media-based novo homo, in the ancient Roman interpretation. And I am hoping that through this blog, I can reach out to like-minded people in the filming landscape, and hopefully find a way to boost my project past the screenwriting process, and hopefully into new heights!
In considering how I can showcase the world of Pariso in New World Steel, I created a visual readthrough of the screenplay's prologue, linked at the bottom of the blog.
In this series of blogs, I will be discussing vital parts of my screenplay alongside showing visualisations in the forms of my own photography. I will be posting every Thursday after today.
